Many of the top and respectable names in the industry have decided to take the plunge too. First off the block is going to be the woman of substance, Preity Zinta, who has consented to do an item number in the Salman Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer, “Mr And Mrs Khanna”.

Comments actor Archana Puran Singh, “Anybody who can shock is a celebrity today. We love to hate such ‘stars’. We place ourselves on a higher pedestal and looking down upon them. Reality TV thrives on real people exposing who they are.”

With much moolah involved in such shows, producers too confess to roping in ‘notorious’ names as they make interesting viewing. Star programming head Gurdip Bhangu says, “People like Palak and Fiza aren’t high-profile, but infamously famous. Their conflicts have entertainment value, pushing up TRPs.”
However, Bigg Boss 2 participant Sambhavana Seth claims, “Of all the Bigg Boss participants, there are only a few who are still heard of. Apart from Ravi Kissan, Rakhi Sawant, Rahul Mahajan and Monica Bedi and me, no one could sustain themselves in the industry.”
A senior editor, who wrote one of India’s first society columns that later metamorphosed into Page 3 in The Times of India says, “A lot of stars shine momentarily on the firmament. The audience, entertainment experts, maybe God, gives them that opportunity. From here onwards it’s up to them. They can either look at this as their ‘big moment’ in life and just stay there and lap it up. Or, they can use the stage they have been put up on by destiny or their own efforts like a springboard that takes them to greater heights. If they have some talent, they will surely do the latter. The undeserving will always melt away, fade off.”
Ad guru Suhel Seth adds, “Genuine celebs don’t seek sleaze or controversies. Channels and such participants feed on each other, because real celebs won’t come on such shows. Reality TV is voyeurism of the worst kind.”
With reality TV giving Bollywood stars and social butterflies a run for their money, even the party scene seems to be witnessing the arrival of fake celebrities. A Page 3 journalist observes, “When we go to elite parties, we find many wannabes, mostly people who’re desperate to be clicked. Some make shocking, weird revelations just to be in the news.” Cherian says, “The word celebrity is on the verge of splitting into two classes — a ‘celebrity of substance’ and ‘celebrity of the moment’. We’re seeing the emergence of the latter. The ‘celebrity’ is moving to the lowest common denominator.” Image consultant Prasad Bidappa adds, “Today, celebs are like tissue papers — good till they last.” Cherian concludes, “Real celebs never run to the limelight, instead the limelight follows them.”

On Saturday Afternoon While Katrina Kaif was interacting with Indians at the Independence Day parade in Houston ,she was confronted by a little more fan attention than she bargained for,when a young man knocked her down in trying to reach out to her.

Says Katrina, “Yes I was knocked off my feet. And I did fall .And considering it was a 12-year old boy half my size, it did kinda take me my surprise. But I didn’t mind at all. I guess it showed the force of his love for me.”

The stories doing the rounds of the closeness growing steadily between the sexy Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor, the new cool dude in Bollywood, But not so true that Salman Khan need get hot under the collar and Deepika Padukone bothered — these two being the other halves of Katz and Ranbir respectively.
Sources on the sets of Ramesh Taurani’s Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani say the two stars bonded because they are the same age. Katz has worked predominantly with all of Bollywood’s leading men who are in their mid-40s, and the 27-year-old Ranbir came as, well, a bundle of fun.

Katz, of course, is Ranbir’s senior in the industry (she’s a dozen films old, he’s got just two releases) and she rags him on the sets by showing him five fingers. No, it’s not what you think! The irrepressible Katz just rubs it into Ranbir that she’s had five hits in a row… while he’s had none. “With Ranbir, I can be myself. I guess it’s the age and the film’s a comedy, so the atmosphere on the sets is like that,” revealed Katz.

Poor Ranbir, he tells director Rajkumar Santoshi that they should take all decisions (even what to eat for lunch!) only after consulting Katz, as she’s the reigning box office queen! “She’s a treat,” admitted Ranbir. Meanwhile, news is that Sallu bhai is also a part of this ghajab kahani. He’s doing a cameo in the film!

Mumbai: It seems that actress Katrina Kaif is making some really evident attempts to get friendly with superstar Shah Rukh Khan these days. Recently, while both the stars were on the same flight from London to Mumbai, Katrina reportedly walked up to SRK and sat with him to strike a friendly conversation.

Our source reveals that Kat’s initiative was taken well by Shah Rukh, as he actually got up and gave his seat to the lady.

Katrina seemed to be behaving like the keenest listener ever when Shah Rukh talked to her about his experiences in the USA and UK. A source says that when the plane was about to land in Mumbai, Katrina chose to go back to her seat. (Well, Salman could not have got into the plane, anyways!)

After coming face-to-face with the fact that Katrina is doing a movie with Shah Rukh, guess Salman would be prepared for such stories!

You can’t afford to go wrong when it comes to styling actresses for films, and if a movie requires her to be natural it gets a bit tough. The gorgeous Katrina Kaif sports a natural look in the film Rajniti and the onus to make her look plain, simple yet beautiful fell on her stylist Asif.

Since the actress has a serious role in the film, she can’t be decked up like a glam doll, the way she is in most of her movies. On the contrary, Katrina has to look as natural as she can be, and according to her stylist Asif, she has gone for a round of organic spa and also cutting and shaping of her hair so that her mane looks natural and lustrous. The lady is gifted with thick hair of smooth texture, admits her stylist.

Strenuous working schedules and the heat and dust on the sets coupled with the different styling for different roles has been taking a toll on Katrina’s hair. So the hair spa must have helped her. She is also not using any hair colour for ‘Rajneeti’.

She will be seen in sarees and with her hair tied in a pony.
